Spotlight: UC Davis Global Intensive Programs
Earn six UC Davis units on a three-week program abroad that requires less time away from campus. These multi-disciplinary programs include courses in Animal Science, Landscape Architecture, Human Rights, and Civil and Environmental Engineering. University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP)
Enrollment for 2024-2025 UCEAP programs opens November 1. Application open dates and deadlines vary by program. UCEAP programs offer UC credit and financial aid. Program options include immersion, special focus, language and culture, and internships. Find a program.
UCEAP Virtual Study Abroad Fair—October 26
Register to learn about your study abroad options through UCEAP, including general information on the benefits of studying abroad. Through virtual, live sessions, you'll hear about program options, important topics you should consider and a host of helpful resources.
UCEAP Peace Corps Prep Program
Peace Corps Prep is a free certificate program to help you develop the skills and experience to become a highly competitive applicant for the Peace Corps and prepare for a career in international development, public service or the NGO sector. RSVP. Info Session: October 18.

Luce Scholarship
The Luce Scholars Program offers early-career leaders immersive professional experiences in Asia. Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the program provides stipends, language training and individualized professional placement in Asia for 18 Luce Scholars each year. Apply. Deadline: October 16.
Talloires Network of Engaged Universities Engaged Research Fund
$6,000 funding and research support is available for graduate students working to develop long-term, sustainable community partnerships as a central part of their research to develop shared knowledge about issues that align with Open Society University Network priorities and themes. Apply. Deadline: October 20.
Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
Awards are available for up to $25,000 in stipend support, as well as half of the required tuition and fees, up to $20,000 per year, for one-to-two years of graduate education. Applicants must be aged 30 or younger and be “New Americans.” Deadline: October 26.
Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship
$104,000 is available towards a two-year master’s degree in preparation for entry to the U.S. Foreign Service Agency for International Development (USAID). The program includes mentorship, two paid summer internships and USAID employment. Applicants must be college seniors or graduates who are U.S. citizens. Deadline: October 26.
Luce/ACLS Travel Grants in China Studies
This grant supports travel for conducting basic research in China or conducting China studies-related research in databases, collections and archives anywhere in the world. Graduate students in a Ph.D. program and non-tenure track faculty at any career stage are eligible. Apply. Deadline: November 16.
UC Davis Library Graduate Student Prize
The prize celebrates graduate student researchers who use the library to create outstanding, publicly engaged scholarship. Up to three $1,000 prizes will be awarded for an original, unpublished, written work created while the applicant is a graduate student at UC Davis. Apply. Deadline: December 1.
Global Leadership, Internships, and Research
LeadNext: Ambassadors for a Global Future
LeadNext builds a network of future leaders aged 18-25 and supports their growth, impact, and capacity to address today’s greatest challenges. Fellows will strengthen leadership skills and gain in-depth knowledge of critical challenges facing Asia and the globe through trainings, expert-led masterclasses, and a Global Leaders Summit. Apply. Ted Bradshaw Engaged Student Scholars Program
This UC Davis Center for Regional Change program connects students with faculty and diverse leaders from government, business, nonprofit and philanthropic sectors to address real-world problems using research and data. Apply. Deadline: October 16.
APRU Becoming a Global Learner Leadership Series
Participate in this free, five-session virtual learning series in January-February 2024, where you will learn about culture, identity and intercultural awareness alongside peers from across the Asia Pacific region. Make connections, engage meaningfully and develop global leadership skills. Winter 2024 Applications Open: October 23.
Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program
CLS is a fully funded 8-10-week summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. Eligible languages: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu. Apply. Deadline: November 14.
Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Spark—Virtual Opportunity
CLS Spark is a virtual program for U.S. undergraduate citizens to learn Arabic, Chinese or Russian through online classes and activities facilitated by native speakers at a host institution abroad. Scholars will also receive an official language proficiency designation via ACTFL OPI testing. Apply. Deadline: November 14.
Universitas 21 (U21) Sustainable Micro-Internships
The U21 Sustainable Micro-Internships Program is a free, virtual, two-week project-based internship for undergrad and grad students. Work with students from across the globe, sharing knowledge and expertise while providing solutions to a challenge related to one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Apply. Deadline: November 15.
Technical University of Munich (TUM) PREP Summer Research Internship
Together with TUM scientists, TUM PREP students work in small research teams on a research project. The program includes accommodations support, a €1,000 scholarship, orientation and framework program, TUM buddies program and orientation. Apply. Info session 10/25. Deadline November 22.
Middlebury Institute of International Studies UC Global Alumni Scholarship
Study with leading experts in international affairs and language services. Gain relevant experience through master’s level courses working with real-world clients in your field of interest. In-person and online programs are available. UC alumni who participated in a global program are eligible for a 25% scholarship toward this master’s degree.

UC Davis Widening Circles Info Session
October 17, 1:30 p.m., virtual. Join this virtual info session to learn more about the UC Davis Widening Circles program, which enables students to explore new pathways for learning, sharing, and acting with purpose and humility in the face of global inequality and injustice. At the info session, you will hear about the program, how to register and funding opportunities. Register.
Global Ambassador Mentorship Program Halloween Party
October 27, 5–6:45 p.m., International Center Lobby. Join the Global Ambassador Mentorship Program for Halloween festivities! You will meet UC Davis students from around the world while painting pumpkins, making each other into mummies and enjoying sweet treats. Dress up in your best costume to be eligible for a costume contest prize. Register.
Global Student Leadership Summit
October 31–November 3. The Global Student Leadership Summit (GSLS) registration is now open. GSLS will be held in Chicago, IL. It is the premier leadership conference for students interested in further developing skills related to global diversity, equity and inclusion. Register.
Lights, Camera, Conversation: Film Screening and Night with the Director and Cast of ‘From Here’
November 2, 7 p.m., Davis Veterans Memorial Center. Global Affairs is pleased to host this event in partnership with the City of Davis Arts & Cultural Affairs. Join us for a free film screening of the documentary ‘From Here,’ a coming-of-age portrait of young people caught at the crosshairs of immigration debates on both sides of the Atlantic. The film’s director, Christina Antonakos-Wallace, as well as two of the film’s protagonists, will participate in a Q&A after the film. Refreshments will be served. Register to attend.
The U.S. Passport Grant Program
November 8, 12 p.m., virtual. In Fall 2023, the U.S. Passport Grant Program will award 70 passports to UC Davis undergraduate students. Join the Global Learning Hub and Passport Services for this info session to learn more about eligibility requirements, application process, required documents and program timeline. Register.
