New Program Spotlight: Building Sustainable Water Treatment Systems
Based in Monterrey, Mexico, students will work to address global sustainable development goals through the design of a holistic water treatment system in a historically under-resourced community. Earn 8 units in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 4 weeks during Summer 2024. Create an account to receive program updates.
University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP)
UCEAP offers programs of various lengths and terms. You can study at world-renowned universities in English, immerse yourself in another academic culture or take language classes. Enrollment opens November 1, 2023 for 2024-25 programs. Many programs have limited capacity—so start your search now.

UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest
It’s not too late to submit your study abroad photos! The annual UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest aims to recognize and celebrate student photography taking place on the many study abroad programs offered throughout the year through the Global Learning Hub. Competitions, Challenges, and Funding
Fulbright U.S. Student Program
This program offers annual awards for U.S. citizens who will have bachelor’s degrees by the 2024-25 academic year to conduct research, study or teach English in over 140 countries worldwide. Learn more about eligibility, timeline and requirements. Campus Deadline: September 13.
Gilman International Scholarship Program
The Gilman Scholarship provides up to $5,000 for Federal Pell Grant recipients to participate in study abroad and internship programs throughout the world. Learn about the aims of the Gilman Scholarship, eligibility requirements, the application process and how to become a competitive candidate. Info Session: September 14.
Schwarzman Scholarship
Schwarzman Scholars receive a full scholarship for a one-year graduate program at Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Scholars will study and live at Schwarzman College and will partake in a core curriculum focusing on public policy, economics and business, or international relations. Deadline: September 19.
Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship
Graduate fellowships are available to qualified students committed to joining the foreign service. This fellowship helps finance two-year graduate programs, provides two summer internships, offers mentoring from a Foreign Service Officer and provides other professional development activities. Deadline: September 21.
Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship
This fellowship aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State in which they can help formulate, represent and implement U.S. foreign policy. Apply. Deadline: September 28.
Churchill Scholarship
Churchill Scholars receive the full cost of tuition and fees for 9-12 months of STEM research graduate study at Churchill College, University of Cambridge. Scholars also receive a living allowance, travel allowance to/from the United Kingdom, an additional travel award and visa fee reimbursement. Campus Deadline: October 11.
Luce/ACLS Travel Grants in China Studies
This grant supports travel for conducting basic research in China or conducting China studies-related research in databases, collections and archives anywhere in the world. Graduate students in a Ph.D. program and non-tenure track faculty at any career stage are eligible. Apply. Deadline: November 16.
Global Leadership, Internships, and Research
Pal Program Registration is Open
The Pal Program pairs up UC Davis undergraduate students for intercultural conversation experiences once a week for ten weeks. Participants can increase their world knowledge, improve intercultural communication skills, develop friendships and enjoy events together. Learn more and register. Deadline: October 12.
UC Davis Washington Program—Winter 2024
The Washington Program offers eligible undergraduate students an exciting opportunity to combine their coursework with an unparalleled internship experience while exploring our nation's capital for a quarter. Students can apply for an internship in any field. There are many global opportunities in D.C.! Apply. Deadline: September 18.
One Health Workforce Academies Summer Session
One Health Workforce Academies is pleased to announce the next session of courses: Fundamentals of One Health, One Health in the World, and Outbreak Investigation and Response. All three courses are offered asynchronously and may be completed at your own pace during the session. There is no tuition to enroll. Deadline: September 30.
UC Davis Global Affairs Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Internship
The SDG Internship provides an opportunity for UC Davis undergraduates to actively contribute to campus engagement on the United Nations SDGs during the fall quarter. Responsibilities include liaising with students and student groups, supporting events, and collecting and organizing data. Deadline: October 2.
LeadNext: Ambassadors for a Global Future
LeadNext builds a network of future leaders aged 18-25 and supports their growth, impact, and capacity to address today’s greatest challenges. Fellows will strengthen leadership skills and gain in-depth knowledge of critical challenges facing Asia and the globe through trainings, expert-led masterclasses, and a Global Leaders Summit. Deadline: October 2.
International House Davis: Language Learning Groups
Join International House Davis for in-person and virtual classes. Check the schedule and sign-up for intermediate-to-advanced language conversation sessions in French, English, Portuguese and German or World Dance Club classes. Register.
International House Davis: English Practice Partners Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteer with the International House Davis English Practice Partner Program where you will be paired with international visitors within our community. Join for about an hour a week of English conversation practice either via Zoom or in public places. No English teaching experience necessary. Complete the Volunteer Form.

Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Volunteer Opportunity
F2F volunteers provide technical assistance on practical interventions that increase food production and income, improve farm and agribusiness operations, help farmers gain access to markets, build local capacity, and conserve natural resources. Democracy Under Siege: Examining Contemporary Challenges in the Americas
September 20, 12 p.m., virtual. Global Affairs is proud to co-sponsor this event. Many forces are active in the world today that are undermining democracies across the globe. Senator José Miguel Insulza, former Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Secretary of the President, and Secretary General at Organization of American States will discuss democracies in the Americas and their present challenges as reflected in the decline of the rule of law, ascendency of populism, weakening of the judiciary, and the loss of checks and balances, among others. University Global Coalition Annual Gathering (UGC)
October 2–6, virtual. UGC will host a global, virtual version of 17 Rooms, a process developed by The Brookings Institution and The Rockefeller Foundation. In 17 Rooms, participants select one of 17 groups representing each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Rooms will work to determine a deliverable from their discussion that can be presented during SDG Action and Awareness Week. Register.

Artist Talk: Katya Grokhovsky
October 12, 4:30–6:30 p.m., Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. Global Affairs is proud to co-sponsor this event. Katya Grokhovsky is a Ukrainian born, New York City-based multidisciplinary visual artist. Her work explores cultural identity, labor, body, history and the self in installation, sculpture, painting, drawing, fiber, video and performance. Grokhovsky is a recipient of numerous awards and fellowships.
Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Webinar
October 12, 12 p.m., virtual. This webinar will provide an overview of the CLS program, including the application process and timeline. The program fully funds an intensive, structured 8-week summer language and cultural immersion program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and nationals who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs. Register.
Global Student Leadership Summit
October 31–November 3. The Global Student Leadership Summit (GSLS) registration is now open. GSLS will be held in Chicago, IL. It is the premier leadership conference for students interested in further developing skills related to global diversity, equity and inclusion. Register.
